We the People Magic Show by Muthukad Promotes Civic Awareness

Thiruvananthapuram: The Different Arts Centre (DAC), in collaboration with the State Chief Electoral Officer's office, hosted an inspiring magic show by renowned magician Gopinath Muthukad to promote civic awareness and highlight the transparency of the democratic electoral process. The event, titled "We the People," was held on Friday at Vazhuthacaud Women’s College as a prelude to National Voter’s Day.

Muthukad, who serves as the State Icon of the Election Department, performed a series of magic acts focusing on vital topics such as the importance of electing eligible candidates, making informed voting decisions, the credibility of elections, and the values of democracy. The show’s theme, "Watch Your Watch," symbolized key concepts where each letter of "WATCH" stood for Wise Decision, Action, Trust, Civic Sense, and Harmony. The audience was captivated by Muthukad's innovative integration of these ideas into his performances, earning widespread appreciation.

Event Highlights
The event was inaugurated by Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Rathan U. Khelkar, IAS, who emphasized the crucial role of the youth, particularly those aged 18 to 30, in the democratic process. He urged them to lead as brand ambassadors for electoral awareness. Additional Chief Electoral Officer Sharmila C. delivered the keynote address, stressing the importance of civic participation. Other notable attendees included Binoy Viswam, Women’s College Principal Anila J.S., and ELC District Coordinators Dr. Mahesh and Shaima Jacob.

Adding a special touch to the program, the differently-abled children from the Different Arts Centre performed the Election Commission’s theme song, leaving the audience deeply moved. This initiative by DAC demonstrates its commitment to fostering civic responsibility and empowering citizens to uphold democratic values.
