THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actor Santhosh Keezhattoor has surprised the audience by giving a theatrical touch to the life story of Ochira Velukutty Asan, who played the roles of Vasavadatta, Leela and Mathangi on stage.

Santhosh Keezhattoor was able to portray the life story of an artist who was nicknamed the female scent bearer by playing female characters. The life story of female actors like VelukuttyAsan, who challenged the female characters in Kumaranasan's poetry at a time when women's presence in theatre was alien, was a new experience for the new generation. The audience enthusiastically took up many phases of the actor's performance that lasted for one-and-a-half hours.  Santhosh was able to portray the life, crises and neglect of Velukutty Asan, who was labelled as a female actor, in a heart-warming manner. The experience presented the audience with a visual treat accompanied by special sound lighting arrangements.

Santhosh Keezhattoor and Suresh Babu Sreestha have penned the lyrics for the play.

Santhosh's female actor made his debut at the closing ceremony of the Women's Day celebrations organized by Karisma, an association of mothers of differently-abled children at the Different Art Centre. Naval Welfare and Wellness Association President Kalahari Kumar inaugurated the function.  Magic Academy Executive Director Gopinath Muthukad, Karisma Treasurer Radha Ashok, Executive Member Mary Prasanna and Secretary Sreedevi were present on the occasion.

Santhosh Keezhattoor was felicitated by Kalaharikumar on the occasion. Kalahari Kumar visited the Centre for differently-abled children and gifted them violins and mridangams.
