THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The differently-abled children of the Different Art Centre in Thiruvananthapuram have gifted 'ponnuammas' to their mothers as a gift for their patience, sacrifice and love. On the occasion of Mother's Day celebrations, a programme was held to celebrate Mother's Day at the Different Art Centre which was graced by the presence of renowned dancer, Ms. Thara Kalyan. The gifts made by the differently-abled children were also handed over to the mothers as a part of the event.

In his inaugural address, Tarakalyan said that the mothers of differently-abled children are a symbol of those who can love them a lot. "This is a place that everyone should visit to realise the strength and depth of the relationship between mother and child," she added. It was Thara Kalyan who told her own experience story about how important children are to a mother with the audience present that day. There was also a dance performance that conveyed the message of motherhood for the celebrations. When a child is born, a mother is also born.  They enriched the stage with their expressions in the efforts of the mothers to bring them up with love and affection.

Vaidehi Sajeev, who hails from Thrissur as part of Mother's Day celebrations, surprised the audience with his Mohiniyattam. Thara Kalyan was also shocked by introducing Poothanamoksham.  Vaidehi was honoured with a ponnada by Tarakal at the ceremony.  Gopinath Muthukad participated in the function.  The mother's day celebrations were marked by a song by mothers and children at the Different Art Centre and a dance by the mothers.
