Malayalam University teams up with Different Art Centre to boost language skills in differently-abled children

Thunchaththu Ezhuthachan Malayalam University in Tirur and Different Art Centre in Trivandrum are teaming up to help children with disabilities improve their language skills. Dr. Bharathan KM, Registrar of Malayalam University, and Gopinath Muthukad, Executive Director, Different Art Centre, inked the agreement to formalize the collaboration. The signing took place at Different Art Centre, with Dr. Smitha K. Nair, Director of the School of Linguistics, representing Thunchaththu Ezhuthachan University.

Dr. Prof. V R Prabodhachandran Nair, former chairman of Kerala Kalamandalam, delivered the keynote speech emphasizing the significance of this partnership. He highlighted that this initiative offers a unique opportunity for children with disabilities to learn language and art simultaneously, aiding in their overall development. Dr. Achyuthshankar S. Nair, Former Dean and Senior Professor, along with Dr. Marykutty K.M, Linguist, were also present at the ceremony. Additionally, Dr. Marykutty of Different Art Centre unveiled a handbook for language learning.

The collaboration aims to enhance teaching methods, foster joint research endeavors among students, teachers, researchers, and staff, exchange educational resources, create assessment materials for language development delays and disabilities, devise therapy modules, and build a comprehensive language disability database.
