
Thiruvananthapuram: Renowned magician and social activist Gopinath Muthukad and his team were accorded a warm reception at Thiruvananthapuram Airport upon their return from the Bharat Yatra, which aimed to promote the importance of social inclusion for individuals with disabilities. The reception was organized by Kadakampally Surendran MLA, along with children with disabilities from the Different Art Centre, their parents, and other well-wishers.
The journey culminated on December 3 in New Delhi, marked by a closing ceremony featuring cultural performances by differently-abled artists from the Different Art Centre. Returning team members, including children with disabilities, were welcomed with red flowers as a gesture of appreciation.
Prominent figures present at the event included Dr. Anil Nair, Intervention Director at the Different Art Centre; Manager Sunilraj C.K.; Administrative Officer Biju James; and Finance Controller Hari S. The journey, which began on October 6 from Kanyakumari, traversed across India, covering 50 venues in the southern, northern, eastern, and western states of the country. Over a span of 59 days, the team traveled by road, conducting awareness programs on social inclusion.
The events were held at institutions under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), army centers, IITs, universities, and health departments under various state governments. The Yatra successfully conveyed its message of inclusivity, reaching diverse audiences across India.
