
Goa Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai has extended his full support and best wishes to DAC founder and Executive Director Mr. Gopinath Muthukad for his Inclusive India Bharat Yatra. This initiative, which aims to raise awareness across India about the importance of integrating the differently-abled community into society, has received a significant boost from the governor. He presented a route map to Mr. Muthukad as a token of good luck for the journey, expressing his hope that the journey would help change societal perceptions towards the differently-abled community. The governor also shared that his travels had helped him discover many truths and inspired him to write a book about bonsai tree art.
The event, chaired by Kadakampally Surendran, was a platform to honor the remarkable achievements of the differently-abled community. Shamil Raj, director of 'ISSAI: The Voice Unheard,' a film that won the award for the most popular movie at the world's largest disability short film contest, Focus on Ability, held in Australia, was mainly celebrated. The lead role played by Amal Krishna from the Different Art Centre and the contributions of other crew members, Ananthuvijay, Sreerag Radhakrishnan, Amalraj, and Arjunrag, were also recognized. Gopinath Muthukad, Executive Director of the Different Art Centre, and Director Shyla Thomas participated in the ceremony, inspiring everyone with their dedication and talent.
The journey is set to begin on October 6th in Kanyakumari. Former Minister N. Dalavai Sundaram MLA will conduct the flag-off at 7:30 AM at the Gandhi Mandapam. The Mayor of Nagercoil Corporation, R. Mahesh, will also participate. An awareness program for the Bharat Yatra will be held at 11 AM at the Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education campus in Kumaracoil. Kanyakumari Collector Alagumeena IAS will inaugurate the event.
Former minister Mano Thangaraj will chair the program, which was organized with the support of NICHE. SP E. Sundaravadanan IPS will be the chief guest. NICHE Pro Chancellor M.S. Faisal Khan will deliver the welcome address, and Mr. Gopinath Muthukad will vote of thanks. The journey will conclude in Delhi on December 3rd, World Disability Day.
