FOK lends a helping hand to the Kasaragod initiative under the auspices of the Different Art Centre

Friends of Kannur, Kuwait Expats Association (FOK) has extended support to the initiative of the International Institute for People with Disabilities (IIPD) in Kasaragod aimed at aiding differently-abled children. The assistance, totaling twelve lakh rupees, was contributed as part of the Kannur Mahotsavam and handed over by former FOK president Xavier Antony Aalakkode to Gopinath Muthukad, Executive Director, Different Art Centre.

For the past 18 years, the annual funds collected during the Kannur Mahotsavam have been utilized for charitable endeavors and the association officials said that the amount collected last year is being given to this big initiative started by Gopinath Muthukad for the differently-abled sector. Notable figures from FOK including Chandramohan Kannur, Vishalraj Karai, Rajith KC, Jaleeb, Pramod Kooleri, Prashanth Karunakaran, Muralidharan Narayanan, Ravi Kappadan, along with other executive members, were present at the ceremony.

The proposed centre in Kasaragod, adhering to international standards, will feature a modern therapy unit and research facility. It will encompass various amenities such as classrooms, innovative learning techniques, animal therapy, water therapy, personalized assistive device workshops, therapy centers, research labs, medical facilities, sports facilities, vocational and computer training, and sanitary facilities. 

Gopinath Muthukad emphasized the urgency of completing this project in Kasaragod, an area affected by endosulfan, and expressed gratitude for the support of organizations like FOK, which will significantly bolster the efforts of IIPD.
