Different Art Centre Triumphs at 15th Kerala State Para Athletic Championship

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a historic display of talent and determination, the Different Art Centre (DAC) secured a landslide victory at the 15th Kerala State Para Athletic Championship. The participants from the center made their mark by clinching a total of 20 medals, including 15 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze.

Out of the 48 athletes representing the center across various categories, several delivered standout performances. In the senior division, Akash JP took home the gold in the 400 meter sprint, while Akhil SR and Achu V dominated the 100 and 200 meter races. Parvathi LS achieved a remarkable feat by winning gold in the 100, 200, and 400 meter sprints. In the field events, Nasimuddin secured the top spot in the javelin throw.

The junior athletes were equally impressive. Hari Govind won gold in both the 100 and 200 meter sprints, while Blessy Basil led the pack in the 1500 meter run. Jefin P James won gold in shot put, and Alan S took the gold in the javelin throw.

The silver medals were earned by Jefin P James and Muhammed Asif in the junior javelin throw. Additionally, bronze medals were secured by Jefin P James in the 400 meter junior sprint, and by Jomon Joseph and Roopakrishna in the senior 1500 meter race.

The athletes were trained under the dedicated guidance of head coach Shahal and assistant coach Adithyan.



The Different Art Centre, which works toward the comprehensive development of specially abled individuals, places a significant emphasis on sports. Beyond athletics, the center provides professional training in football, table tennis, taekwondo, and chess.

"Our ultimate goal is to prepare these talented children to represent the nation in the Paralympics," said Gopinath Muthukad, Executive Director of the Different Art Centre.
