
Thiruvananthapuram: Taking a significant step into the sports arena, Different Art Centre has launched a table tennis training program. The inauguration ceremony, held on Wednesday, was marked by a special match between celebrated athlete K.M. Beenamol and 15-year-old Aaron Ajith, who represented India in the World Tennis Tournament for differently-abled athletes.
The initiative aims to empower differently-abled children by preparing them to participate in prestigious events such as the Paralympics, national, and international championships. Speaking at the event, Beenamol emphasized the importance of recognizing and nurturing the sporting talents of differently-abled individuals so they can bring pride to the nation. She also praised the facilities provided by Different Art Centre for the development of these children.
The ceremony was presided over by Different Art Centre’s Executive Director, Gopinath Muthukad. Beenamol honored Aaron Ajith by presenting him with a Golden lining hawl and a memento. Additionally, departing staff members Dr. Ashley Monica and Abhimanyu were also felicitated with mementos. The event featured a welcome address by Different Art Centre’s Intervention Director, Dr. Anil Nair, and a vote of thanks by Magic Planet Manager, Sunil Raj C.K.
In a broader effort to promote sports among children, the centre has been providing football training under the guidance of Gibraltar native Joel Richard Williams. Furthermore, the facility also offers training in athletics, football, chess, and taekwondo, ensuring a comprehensive sports development program for differently-abled children.
