DAC Marks Family Day with ‘Tree of Love’

The Different Art Center (DAC) observed International Family Day on May 15, 2026, with a meaningful and emotional programme in which differently-abled children created a symbolic “Tree of Love” using family photographs and drawings.

As part of the celebrations, the children decorated a large tamarind tree with hand-drawn portraits and photographs of their families, presenting a visual expression of love, care and togetherness. The initiative also symbolised the sense of belonging shared by the DAC community, reflecting the message that the children, parents and staff together form one extended family.

The programme was inaugurated by Shri M.G. Rajamanickam, IAS, Secretary, Government of Kerala, and Smt R. Nishanthini, IPS, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Headquarters, who attended the event along with their children, Nidhilan and Venpa. The dignitaries inaugurated the function by adding their family photograph to the “Tree of Love”.

Addressing the gathering, the chief guests said it was a privilege to be part of the Different Art Center community, which has brought joy, confidence and colour into the lives of differently-abled children and their families. They described the centre as a space where genuine transformation and happiness are experienced through the bond shared between children and parents.

The event also featured a series of art performances by children and mothers from the Different Art Center, highlighting creativity, emotional expression and community participation.

Among those present were Different Art Center Executive Director Gopinath Muthukad, Intervention Director Dr Anil Kumar Nair, Magic Planet Manager Sunil Raj CK and Creative Head Bharatharajan.
