Children at DAC honour mothers on International Women’s Day

On 9 March 2021, at the women’s day event Maatru Vandanam held at Magic Planetthe children of Different Arts Centre honoured 100 mothers with an offering of golden shroudas a symbol of their gratitude and respect towards their mothers' relentless efforts and incomparable love. The honouring ceremony was serenaded by one of the differently-abled students of Different Arts Centre - Amal Ajayakumar, whose rendition of the song “Amma mazhakkarinu..” was a heartwarming experience for the audience.


Maatru Vandanam started off with the screening of the song, Maatruthvam penned by poet Shyla Thomas. The event was inaugurated by the vice-chairperson of the Kerala khadi board, Shobhana George, who in her inaugural address lauded Different Arts Centre for its earnest efforts in not only training and bringing out the talents in differently-abled children but ensuring that they have a platform to showcase the talents as well. She also added that ventures such as DAC should get maximum support from the public as they work towards a novel cause. The executive director of Kudumbashree mission, Harikishore also conversed with the mothers online. CEO of Gender Park, P.T. Mohammed Suneesh also spoke at the event.  
 
Managing partner of Timesworld and poet Shyla Thomas, managing director and managing partner of Siso - Gireesh and Lissi Gireesh, researcher Siddharth, executive director of Magic Academy – Gopinath Muthukaddirector – Chandrasenan Mithrimala, manager – Jin Joseph, coordinator of DAC– Divya. T were the others present at the event. The children of DAC also performed a magic show to entertain the guests.
