After a frustrating and exhaustive lockdown, the children at
the DAC are back to action. While the
children and their mothers are given food at the centre, the children receive
their stipends too. Parents regularly come to Magic Planet to drop / pick their
children.
Most mothers who accompany, stay back at the centre all day until
they returned with their children. Many of them are not from a solid financial
background. This led to thinking of opening an opportunity to them which could utilize
their time better while earning an income.
With the help of benefactors like FOKANA Association from the United States, Lions Club and others, sewing machines were purchased for making bags. In a short span, a center was formed in the name of ‘Charisma’ (Magical move for mothers). This will be a platform for mothers to explore and expand their interests and hobbies, while adding to their living. The mothers who come here do tailoring, candle making and toothbrush making. They also receive the full proceeds from the sale.
These mothers no longer have the worry of keeping away from their children but can see them while working and living self-sufficiently in the shadow of a magician who works wonders with love.
The center was inaugurated on 03 December by ADGP B. Sandhya
in the presence of Film producer Suresh Kumar, Actress Menaka and KTDC Chairman
M. Vijayakumar.
