Thiruvananthapuram: Autistic Pride Day was celebrated on 18th June at the Different Art Centre. The event was organized with the aim of recognizing and empowering the diverse abilities of individuals with autism. The celebration was inaugurated by Dr. Anu Mariam Thomas, Senior Resident of the Neurology Department at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.
As part of the celebration, an awareness session on autism was also conducted. Dr. Anu Mariam Thomas was felicitated by Dr. Anilkumar Nair, Intervention Director of the Different Art Centre.
Following the formal events, children with autism from the centre presented various cultural programs. Performances included Ottanthullal, fancy dress, poetry recitation, cinematic dance, light music, and group singing, which added vibrancy and color to the celebrations.
Different Art Centre has launched The Golden Goal project, aiming to empower differently-abled children through sports.
