As part of the Differently Abled National Art Festival Sammohan, a procession will be held on Friday at 4 pm.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Industries Minister P Rajeev will flag off the 'Vilambara Jatha' to be held at 4 pm today (Friday) as part of the Sammohan National Disability Arts Festival to be held for the first time in India under the aegis of Different Art Centre on 25th and 26th. Kadakampally Surendran MLA, Councillor D Binu and Shantigiri Organizing Secretary Gururatnam Gnanatapasvi will also be present.  The journey will start from the front of the Kinfra Film and Video Park and culminate at the Different Art Centre.  Around 50 members from the All India Amputters Association Charitable Trust, north Indian differently-abled artists, various art forms, orchestras and others will be accompanying the procession. More than 1,000 differently-abled children from different parts of the country will participate in the festival.

Children from 9 national institutes in the country under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities of the Union Ministry of Social Justice will also participate in the fair. The students will be showcasing their skills in the fields of magic, dance, music, instrumental music and painting. In addition, performances by eminent personalities who have excelled in the field of disability will also be performed. Apart from the art exhibitions, awareness sections on various schemes formulated by the Central and State Governments for the differently-abled community, awareness classes, seminars and exhibitions related to the care of the differently-abled will also be organized.
